Not long ago, I couldn't walk across a room without a cane. At 450 pounds, simply getting through a day was a physical challenge. Running a hundred miles would have seemed like someone else's life entirely.
Today, it is my life. I've lost over 230 pounds and transformed myself into an ultrarunner who regularly competes in 100+ mile races, proving in the most personal way possible that the human body and the spirit behind it are capable of far more than we're ever told.
That journey didn't just change my body. It gave me a mission. As a UESCA-certified ultrarunning coach, health and fitness consultant, husband, father, and adventure seeker, I work with ultrarunners of every level, from first-timers just lacing up on the trails to seasoned athletes chasing their next buckle. But my deepest passion is reserved for people who look the way I once looked: people who've been written off, who feel like the finish line might as well be on another planet, and who just need someone who actually gets it to show them the way forward.
Because I don't just coach the sport. I coach the whole human.
I coach from lived experience, not just a textbook. I know what it feels like to be told, in words or otherwise, that your body isn't built for this. I was 450 pounds, using a cane to walk, before I ever took a step toward the runner I'd become. That journey taught me the biggest breakthroughs aren't physical. They're mental, emotional, and deeply personal.
My coaching meets athletes where they are, not where I think they should be. Whether you're chasing a first finish line or a hundred-mile buckle, I build training around your life, your body, and your version of possible. I specialize in working with people transforming from poor health into endurance athletes, because I am one. The path forward isn't always pretty, but it's always worth it.

Evan has been competing on trails for over two decades, building a race record that stretches from the mountains of Alaska to the coastal ranges of Southern California. He got his start in the Alaska trail scene, running events like the Crow Pass Crossing and the Equinox 50K in Fairbanks before putting down roots in SoCal and making the Santa Monica Mountains his home turf.
